and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26bf9894-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> the integration of tribal AMBER Alert systems into State AMBER Alert systems.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26bf9895-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Activities</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">Activities funded by grants under the program under subsection (a) may include—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26bf9896-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/b/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> the development and implementation of education and training programs, and associated materials, relating to AMBER Alert communications plans;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26bf9897-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/b/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> the development and implementation of law enforcement programs, and associated equipment, relating to AMBER Alert communications plans;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26bf9898-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/b/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> the development and implementation of new technologies to improve AMBER Alert communications;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26bf9899-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/b/4\"><num value=\"4\">(4)</num><content> the integration of State or regional AMBER Alert communication plans with an Indian tribe; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26bf989a-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/b/5\"><num value=\"5\">(5)</num><content> such other activities as the Attorney General considers appropriate for supporting the AMBER Alert communications program.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26bf989b-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Federal share</heading><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26bf989c-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/c/1\"><num value=\"1\" class=\"bold\">(1)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">Except as provided in paragraph (2), the Federal share of the cost of any activities funded by a grant under the program under subsection (a) may not exceed 50 percent.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26bf989d-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/c/2\"><num value=\"2\" class=\"bold\">(2)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Waiver of Federal share</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">If the Attorney General determines that an Indian tribe does not have sufficient funds available to comply with the Federal share requirement under paragraph (1) for the cost of activities funded by a grant for the purpose described in subsection (b)(4), the Attorney General may increase the Federal share of the costs for such activities to the extent the Attorney General determines necessary.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26bfbfae-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/d\"><num value=\"d\" class=\"bold\">(d)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Distribution of grant amounts on geographic basis</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General shall, to the maximum extent practicable, ensure the distribution of grants under the program under subsection (a) on an equitable basis throughout the various regions of the United States.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26bfbfaf-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/e\"><num value=\"e\" class=\"bold\">(e)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Administration</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General shall prescribe requirements, including application requirements, and standards to improve accountability and transparency for grants awarded under the program under subsection (a).</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26bfbfb0-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/f\"><num value=\"f\" class=\"bold\">(f)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Definition of Indian tribe</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">In this section, the term “Indian tribe” means a federally recognized Indian tribe or a Native village, Regional Corporation, or Village Corporation (as those terms are defined in <ref href=\"/us/usc/t43/s1602\">section 1602 of title 43</ref>).</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26bfbfb1-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/g\"><num value=\"g\" class=\"bold\">(g)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Authorization of appropriations</heading><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id26bfbfb2-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/g/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> There is authorized to be appropriated for the Department of Justice $5,000,000 for fiscal year 2019 to carry out this section and, in addition, $5,000,000 for fiscal year 2019 to carry out paragraphs (3) and (4) of subsection (b).</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id26bfbfb3-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20504/g/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> Amounts appropriated pursuant to the authorization of appropriations in paragraph (1) shall remain available until expended.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id26bfbfb4-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/108/21/tIII/s304\">Pub.
