L. 115–70, title IV, § 403, Oct. 18, 2017, 131 Stat. 1214.)","seq_in_title":577,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stII/ch217/schIV","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34","level":"title","num":"Title 34—","heading":"CRIME CONTROL AND LAW ENFORCEMENT","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stII","level":"subtitle","num":"Subtitle II—","heading":"Protection of Children and Other Persons","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stII/ch217","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 217—","heading":"ELDER ABUSE PREVENTION AND PROSECUTION","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stII/ch217/schIV","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER IV—","heading":"ROBERT MATAVA ELDER ABUSE PROSECUTION ACT OF 2017","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id157e19fd-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s21741\"><num value=\"21741\">§ 21741.</num><heading> Training and technical assistance for States</heading>\n<chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General, in consultation with the Secretary of Health and Human Services and in coordination with the Elder Justice Coordinating Council (established under <ref href=\"/us/usc/t42/s1397k\">section 1397k of title 42</ref>), shall create, compile, evaluate, and disseminate materials and information, and provide the necessary training and technical assistance, to assist States and units of local government in—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id157e19fe-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s21741/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><chapeau> investigating, prosecuting, pursuing, preventing, understanding, and mitigating the impact of—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id157e19ff-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s21741/1/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> physical, sexual, and psychological abuse of elders;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id157e1a00-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s21741/1/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> exploitation of elders, including financial abuse and scams targeting elders; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id157e1a01-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s21741/1/C\"><num value=\"C\">(C)</num><content> neglect of elders; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id157e1a02-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s21741/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> assessing, addressing, and mitigating the physical and psychological trauma to victims of elder abuse.</content>\n</paragraph>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id157e1a03-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/115/70/tIV/s403\">Pub.
