<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id26efd0a9-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s40302"><num value="40302">§ 40302.</num><heading> Funding for improvement of criminal records</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id26efd0aa-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s40302/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Grants for the improvement of criminal records</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Attorney General, through the Bureau of Justice Statistics, shall, subject to appropriations and with preference to States that, as of <date date="2018-03-23">March 23, 2018</date>, have the lowest percent currency of case dispositions in computerized criminal history files and that will utilize funding under this subsection to prioritize the identification and transmittal of felony conviction records and domestic violence records, make a grant to each State to be used—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26efd0ab-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s40302/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> for the creation of a computerized criminal history record system or improvement of an existing system;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26efd0ac-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s40302/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> to improve accessibility to the national instant criminal background system;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26efd0ad-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s40302/1/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> to assist the State in the transmittal of criminal records to the national system; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26efd0ae-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s40302/1/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> to establish and achieve compliance with an implementation plan under <ref href="/us/usc/t34/s40917">section 40917 of this title</ref>.</content>
