L. 116–104, § 3, Dec. 30, 2019, 133 Stat. 3272.)","seq_in_title":632,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stIV/ch407/schII","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34","level":"title","num":"Title 34—","heading":"CRIME CONTROL AND LAW ENFORCEMENT","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stIV","level":"subtitle","num":"Subtitle IV—","heading":"Criminal Records and Information","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stIV/ch407","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 407—","heading":"DNA IDENTIFICATION","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stIV/ch407/schII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER II—","heading":"TRAINING, TECHNOLOGY, RESEARCH, AND EXPANDED USE","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id26f6adbf-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s40722\"><num value=\"40722\">§ 40722.</num><heading> DNA training and education for law enforcement, correctional personnel, and court officers</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26f6adc0-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s40722/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General shall make grants to provide training, technical assistance, education, and information relating to the identification, collection, preservation, analysis, and use of DNA samples and DNA evidence by—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26f6adc1-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s40722/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> law enforcement personnel, including police officers and other first responders, evidence technicians, investigators, and others who collect or examine evidence of crime;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26f6adc2-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s40722/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> court officers, including State and local prosecutors, defense lawyers, and judges;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26f6adc3-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s40722/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> forensic science professionals; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26f6adc4-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s40722/a/4\"><num value=\"4\">(4)</num><content> corrections personnel, including prison and jail personnel, and probation, parole, and other officers involved in supervision.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26f6adc5-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s40722/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Authorization of appropriations</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">There are authorized to be appropriated $12,500,000 for each of fiscal years 2019 through 2024 to carry out this section.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id26f6adc6-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/108/405/tIII/s303\">Pub.
