L. 110–177, title III, § 303, Jan. 7, 2008, 121 Stat. 2540.)","seq_in_title":680,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stIV/ch415","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34","level":"title","num":"Title 34—","heading":"CRIME CONTROL AND LAW ENFORCEMENT","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stIV","level":"subtitle","num":"Subtitle IV—","heading":"Criminal Records and Information","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stIV/ch415","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 415—","heading":"RESOURCE CENTERS, TASK FORCES, DATABASES, AND PROGRAMS","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id2702bbaf-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s41508\"><num value=\"41508\">§ 41508.</num><heading> Grants to States for threat assessment databases</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id2702bbb0-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s41508/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General, through the Office of Justice Programs, shall make grants under this section to the highest State courts in States participating in the program, for the purpose of enabling such courts to establish and maintain a threat assessment database described in subsection (b).</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id2702bbb1-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s41508/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Database</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">For purposes of subsection (a), a threat assessment database is a database through which a State can—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id2702bbb2-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s41508/b/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> analyze trends and patterns in domestic terrorism and crime;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id2702bbb3-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s41508/b/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> project the probabilities that specific acts of domestic terrorism or crime will occur; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id2702e2c4-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s41508/b/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> develop measures and procedures that can effectively reduce the probabilities that those acts will occur.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id2702e2c5-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s41508/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Core elements</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General shall define a core set of data elements to be used by each database funded by this section so that the information in the database can be effectively shared with other States and with the Department of Justice.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id2702e2c6-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s41508/d\"><num value=\"d\" class=\"bold\">(d)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Authorization of appropriations</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $15,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2008 through 2011.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id2702e2c7-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/110/177/tIII/s303\">Pub.
