<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id68094fc3-09a0-11eb-ad2f-88f577dd9054" identifier="/us/usc/t35/s151"><num value="151">§ 151.</num><heading> Issue of patent</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id68094fc4-09a0-11eb-ad2f-88f577dd9054" identifier="/us/usc/t35/s151/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>If it appears that an applicant is entitled to a patent under the law, a written notice of allowance of the application shall be given or mailed to the applicant. The notice shall specify a sum, constituting the issue fee and any required publication fee, which shall be paid within 3 months thereafter.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id680976d5-09a0-11eb-ad2f-88f577dd9054" identifier="/us/usc/t35/s151/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Effect of Payment</inline>.—</heading><content>Upon payment of this sum the patent may issue, but if payment is not timely made, the application shall be regarded as abandoned.</content>
