<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="idf0cf0ce2-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505"><num value="15505">§ 15505.</num><heading> Local development districts and organizations</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="idf0cf0ce3-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Grants to Local Development Districts</inline>.—</heading><content>Subject to the requirements of this section, a Commission may make grants to a local development district to assist in the payment of development planning and administrative expenses.</content>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="idf0cf0ce4-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Conditions for Grants.—</inline></heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idf0cf0ce5-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Maximum amount</inline>.—</heading><content>The amount of a grant awarded under this section may not exceed 80 percent of the administrative and planning expenses of the local development district receiving the grant.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idf0cf0ce6-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Maximum period for state agencies</inline>.—</heading><content>In the case of a State agency certified as a local development district, a grant may not be awarded to the agency under this section for more than 3 fiscal years.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idf0cf0ce7-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Local share</inline>.—</heading><content>The contributions of a local development district for administrative expenses may be in cash or in kind, fairly evaluated, including space, equipment, and services.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="idf0cf0ce8-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/c"><num value="c">(c)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Duties of Local Development Districts</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>A local development district shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idf0cf0ce9-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/c/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> operate as a lead organization serving multicounty areas in the region at the local level;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idf0cf0cea-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/c/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> assist the Commission in carrying out outreach activities for local governments, community development groups, the business community, and the public;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idf0cf0ceb-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/c/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> serve as a liaison between State and local governments, nonprofit organizations (including community-based groups and educational institutions), the business community, and citizens; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idf0cf0cec-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s15505/c/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> assist the individuals and entities described in paragraph (3) in identifying, assessing, and facilitating projects and programs to promote the economic development of the region.</content>
