<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idf098e244-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s593/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Sheltered workshop</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “sheltered workshop” means a sheltered workshop employing the severely handicapped under chapter 85 of title 41.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="idf098e245-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s593/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>Except as provided in subsection (c), amounts made available to the General Services Administration pursuant to <ref href="/us/usc/t40/s592">section 592 of this title</ref> may not be obligated or expended to procure covered services by contract if an employee who was a permanent veterans preference employee of the Administration on <date date="1995-11-19">November 19, 1995</date>, would be terminated as a result.</content>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="idf098e246-b211-11e9-9941-df2837ad0631" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s593/c"><num value="c">(c)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Exception</inline>.—</heading><content>Amounts made available to the Administration pursuant to <ref href="/us/usc/t40/s592">section 592 of this title</ref> may be obligated and expended to procure covered services by contract with a sheltered workshop or, if sheltered workshops decline to contract for the provision of covered services, by competitive contract for a period of no longer than 5 years. When a competitive contract expires, or is terminated for any reason, the Administration shall again offer to procure the covered services by contract with a sheltered workshop before procuring the covered services by competitive contract.</content>
