<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id3871630a-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602"><num value="602">§ 602.</num><heading> Authority to establish motor vehicle pools and transportation systems</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id3871630b-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">In General</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Subject to <ref href="/us/usc/t40/s603">section 603 of this title</ref>, and regulations issued under section 603, the Administrator of General Services shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3871630c-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> take over from executive agencies and consolidate, or otherwise acquire, motor vehicles and related equipment and supplies;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3871630d-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> provide for the establishment, maintenance, and operation (including servicing and storage) of motor vehicle pools or systems; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3871630e-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602/a/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> furnish motor vehicles and related services to executive agencies for the transportation of property and passengers.</content>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id3871630f-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Methods of Providing Vehicles and Services</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>As determined by the Administrator, motor vehicles and related services may be furnished by providing an agency with—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id38716310-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> Federal Government-owned motor vehicles;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id38716311-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the use of motor vehicles, under rental or other arrangements, through private fleet operators, taxicab companies, or local or interstate common carriers; or</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id38716312-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> both.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id38716313-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s602/c"><num value="c">(c)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Recipients of Vehicles and Services</inline>.—</heading><content>The Administrator shall, so far as practicable, furnish motor vehicles and related services under this section to any federal agency, mixed-ownership Government corporation (as defined in chapter 91 of title 31), or the District of Columbia, on its request.</content>

<p style="-uslm-lc:I21" class="indent0">Subsection (a)(1) is substituted for “in respect of executive agencies, . . . consolidate, take over, acquire, or arrange for the operation by any executive agency of, motor vehicles and other related equipment and supplies for the purpose of establishing motor vehicle pools and systems to serve the needs of executive agencies” for clarity and to eliminate unnecessary words.</p>
