L. 116–75, § 2, Nov. 27, 2019, 133 Stat. 1160.)","seq_in_title":197,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t40/stII/ptC/ch61/schIII","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t40","level":"title","num":"Title 40—","heading":"PUBLIC BUILDINGS, PROPERTY, AND WORKS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t40/stII","level":"subtitle","num":"SUBTITLE II—","heading":"PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND WORKS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t40/stII/ptC","level":"part","num":"PART C—","heading":"FEDERAL BUILDING COMPLEXES","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t40/stII/ptC/ch61","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 61—","heading":"UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT BUILDING AND GROUNDS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t40/stII/ptC/ch61/schIII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER III—","heading":"POLICING AUTHORITY","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id9ecdf5cc-1b46-11ea-a4a4-d91e9752fd6e\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t40/s6121\"><num value=\"6121\">§ 6121.</num><heading> General</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id9ecdf5cd-1b46-11ea-a4a4-d91e9752fd6e\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t40/s6121/a\"><num value=\"a\">(a)</num><heading> <inline class=\"small-caps\">Authority of Marshal of the Supreme Court and Supreme Court Police</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In accordance with regulations prescribed by the Marshal of the Supreme Court and approved by the Chief Justice of the United States, the Marshal and the Supreme Court Police shall have authority—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id9ecdf5ce-1b46-11ea-a4a4-d91e9752fd6e\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t40/s6121/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> to police the Supreme Court Building and grounds and adjacent streets to protect individuals and property;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id9ecdf5cf-1b46-11ea-a4a4-d91e9752fd6e\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t40/s6121/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><chapeau> in any location, to protect—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id9ecdf5d0-1b46-11ea-a4a4-d91e9752fd6e\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t40/s6121/a/2/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> the Chief Justice, any Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, and any official guest of the Supreme Court; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id9ecdf5d1-1b46-11ea-a4a4-d91e9752fd6e\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t40/s6121/a/2/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> any officer or employee of the Supreme Court while that officer or employee is performing official duties;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id9ecdf5d2-1b46-11ea-a4a4-d91e9752fd6e\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t40/s6121/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> while performing duties necessary to carry out paragraph (1) or (2), to make arrests for any violation of Federal or State law and any regulation under Federal or State law; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id9ecdf5d3-1b46-11ea-a4a4-d91e9752fd6e\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t40/s6121/a/4\"><num value=\"4\">(4)</num><content> to carry firearms as may be required while performing duties under <ref href=\"/us/usc/t40/s6102\">section 6102 of this title</ref>, this subchapter, and subchapter IV.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id9ecdf5d4-1b46-11ea-a4a4-d91e9752fd6e\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t40/s6121/b\"><num value=\"b\">(b)</num><heading> <inline class=\"small-caps\">Authorization To Carry Firearms</inline>—</heading><content> <ref class=\"footnoteRef\" idref=\"fn002021\">1</ref><note type=\"footnote\" id=\"fn002021\"><num>1</num> So in original.
