<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id38c4b2df-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s8734"><num value="8734">§ 8734.</num><heading> Sale of land by Mayor</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id38c4b2e0-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s8734/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Authority To Sell</inline>.—</heading><content>With the approval of the National Capital Planning Commission, the Mayor of the District of Columbia, for the best interests of the District of Columbia, may sell to the highest bidder at public or private sale real estate in the District of Columbia owned in fee simple by the District of Columbia for municipal use that the Council of the District of Columbia and the Commission find to be no longer required for public purposes.</content>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id38c4b2e1-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s8734/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Paying Expenses and Depositing Proceeds</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The Mayor—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id38c4b2e2-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s8734/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> may pay the reasonable and necessary expenses of the sale of each parcel of land sold; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id38c4b2e3-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s8734/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> shall deposit the net proceeds of each sale in the Treasury to the credit of the District of Columbia.</content>
