<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id38c96e74-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s9102"><num value="9102">§ 9102.</num><heading> Duties</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id38c96e75-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s9102/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">In General</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The Commission of Fine Arts shall advise on—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id38c96e76-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s9102/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the location of statues, fountains, and monuments in the public squares, streets, and parks in the District of Columbia;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id38c96e77-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s9102/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the selection of models for statues, fountains, and monuments erected under the authority of the Federal Government;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id38c96e78-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s9102/a/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> the selection of artists to carry out clause (2); and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id38c96e79-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s9102/a/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> questions of art generally when required to do so by the President or a committee of Congress.</content>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id38c96e7a-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s9102/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Duty To Request Advice</inline>.—</heading><content>The officers required to decide the questions described in subsection (a)(1)–(3) shall request the Commission to provide the advice.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id38c96e7b-56ae-11e3-9436-86e561d18d41" identifier="/us/usc/t40/s9102/c"><num value="c">(c)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Nonapplication</inline>.—</heading><content>This section does not apply to the Capitol Building and the Library of Congress buildings.</content>
