<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id8f2e73cd-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s10266"><num value="10266">§ 10266.</num><heading> Staff</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8f2e73ce-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s10266/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Clerical staff</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8f2e73cf-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s10266/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> Subject to paragraph (2), the Chairman may appoint and fix the compensation of such clerical staff as may be necessary to discharge the responsibilities of the Board.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8f2e73d0-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s10266/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> Clerical staff shall be appointed subject to the provisions of title 5 governing appointments in the competitive service, and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of chapter 51 and subchapter III of chapter 53 of such title relating to classification and General Schedule pay rates.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8f2e73d1-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s10266/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Professional staff</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8f2e73d2-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s10266/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), the Chairman may appoint and fix the compensation of such professional staff as may be necessary to discharge the responsibilities of the Board.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8f2e73d4-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s10266/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> Professional staff members may be appointed without regard to the provisions of title 5 governing appointments in the competitive service, and may be paid without regard to the provisions of chapter 51 and subchapter III of chapter 53 of such title relating to classification and General Schedule pay rates, except that no individual so appointed may receive pay in excess of the annual rate of basic pay payable for GS–18 of the General Schedule.</content>
