<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id8f57311f-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s11842"><num value="11842">§ 11842.</num><heading> Evaluation of drug abuse education and prevention efforts</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8f573120-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s11842/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Method</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Secretary of Health and Human Services shall develop and conduct a structured evaluation of the different approaches utilized across the Nation to reduce drug abuse.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8f573121-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s11842/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Grants</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Secretary of Health and Human Services may make grants to or enter into contracts with appropriate entities for the purpose of conducting the evaluations required by subsection (a).</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8f573122-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s11842/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Time of reports</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Secretary shall submit a report based on the evaluations prepared under subsection (a) not later than 1 year after <date date="1988-11-18">November 18, 1988</date>, and another report based on such evaluations not later than 3 years after <date date="1988-11-18">November 18, 1988</date>. A third report based on such evaluations shall be submitted by the Secretary not later than <date date="1994-01-01">January 1, 1994</date>.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8f573123-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s11842/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Authorization of appropriations</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">To carry out this section, there are authorized to be appropriated $12,000,000 in fiscal year 1989, and $15,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 1990 through 1993.</p>
