<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="idad1bced6-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332"><num value="12332">§ 12332.</num><heading> Definitions</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">As used in this part:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad1bced7-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Community referral services</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “community referral services” means services to assist families in obtaining community resources, including health care, mental health care, employability development and job training, and other social services.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad1bced8-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Core services</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “core services” means—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bced9-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> educational and support services provided to assist parents in acquiring parenting skills, learning about child development, and responding appropriately to the behavior of their children; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bceda-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> the early developmental screening of children to assess any needs of such children and to identify specific types of support that may be provided;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcedb-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/2/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> outreach services;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcedc-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/2/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> community referral services; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcedd-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/2/E"><num value="E">(E)</num><content> follow up services.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad1bcede-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Follow up services</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “follow up services” means services provided to ensure that necessary services are received by families and are effective in meeting their needs.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad1bcedf-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/4"><num value="4" class="bold">(4)</num><heading class="bold"> Independent State body</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “independent State body” means the entity established under <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s12336">section 12336 of this title</ref>.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad1bcee0-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/5"><num value="5" class="bold">(5)</num><heading class="bold"> Lead agency</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “lead agency” means an existing State agency, or other public or nonprofit private entity designated by the chief executive officer of the State as the agency responsible for the development and implementation of local family resource and support programs. Such agency shall have demonstrated ability to work with other State and community based agencies, to provide training and technical assistance, and shall also have a commitment to parental participation in the design and administration of family resource and support programs.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad1bcee1-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/6"><num value="6" class="bold">(6)</num><heading class="bold"> Other services</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “other services” and “other support services” includes—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcee2-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/6/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> child care, early childhood development and intervention programs;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcee3-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/6/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> employability development services (including skill training);</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcee4-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/6/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> educational services, such as scholastic tutoring, literacy training, and General Educational Degree (GED) services;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcee5-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/6/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> nutritional education;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcee6-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/6/E"><num value="E">(E)</num><content> life management skills training;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcee7-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/6/F"><num value="F">(F)</num><content> peer counseling and crisis intervention, family violence counseling and referrals for such services;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcee8-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/6/G"><num value="G">(G)</num><content> referral for substance abuse counseling and treatment referral; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1bcee9-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/6/H"><num value="H">(H)</num><content> referral for primary health and mental health services.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad1bceea-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12332/7"><num value="7" class="bold">(7)</num><heading class="bold"> Outreach services</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “outreach services” means services provided to ensure (through home visits or other methods) that parents are aware of and able to participate in family resource and support program activities.</p>
