<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="idad46d624-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853"><num value="12853">§ 12853.</num><heading> National Homeownership Trust Fund</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idad46d625-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Establishment</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">There is established in the Treasury of the United States a revolving fund, to be known as the National Homeownership Trust Fund.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idad46d626-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Assets</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Fund shall consist of—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad46d627-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> any amount approved in appropriation Acts under <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s12857">section 12857 of this title</ref> for purposes of carrying out this subchapter;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad46d628-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> any amount received by the Trust as repayment for payments made under this subchapter; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad46d629-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> any amount received by the Trust under subsection (d).</content>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idad46d62a-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Use of amounts</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Fund shall, to the extent approved in appropriations Acts, be available to the Trust for purposes of carrying out this subchapter.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idad46d62b-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Investment of excess amounts</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Any amounts in the Fund determined by the Trust to be in excess of the amounts currently required to carry out the provisions of this subchapter shall be invested by the Trust in obligations of, or obligations guaranteed as to both principal and interest by, the United States or any agency of the United States.</p>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idad46d62c-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/e"><num value="e" class="bold">(e)</num><heading class="bold"> Demonstration programs</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Using not more than $20,000,000 of any amounts appropriated for the Fund under <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s12857">section 12857 of this title</ref> in fiscal year 1991, the Secretary shall carry out demonstration programs for combining housing activities and economic development activities, as follows:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad46d62d-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/e/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in an amount not to exceed $4,200,000, for development, rehabilitation, and revitalization of 2 vacant structures in a blighted minority neighborhood.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad46d62e-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/e/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> In Washington, District of Columbia, in an amount not to exceed $10,000,000, for nonprofit neighborhood-based groups to acquire and rehabilitate vacant public and private housing for resale or rent to low- and moderate-income families and to the extent of and subject to engage in neighborhood-based economic development activities.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad46d62f-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/e/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000, for technical assistance and organizational support for a community development corporation that is a city-wide public/private partnership engaged in the provision of technical assistance to neighborhood community development corporations.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad46fd40-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12853/e/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> In other areas, as the Secretary may determine.</content>
