<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="idad46fd42-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854"><num value="12854">§ 12854.</num><heading> Definitions</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">For purposes of this subchapter:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad46fd43-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Board of Directors</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “Board of Directors” or “Board” means the Board of Directors of the National Homeownership Trust under <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s12851/b">section 12851(b) of this title</ref>.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad46fd44-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Displaced homemaker</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “displaced homemaker” means an individual who—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad46fd45-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> is an adult;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad46fd46-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> has not worked full-time full-year in the labor force for a number of years, but has during such years, worked primarily without remuneration to care for the home and family; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad46fd47-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/2/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> is unemployed or underemployed and is experiencing difficulty in obtaining or upgrading employment.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad46fd48-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Fund</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “Fund” means the National Homeownership Trust Fund established in <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s12853">section 12853 of this title</ref>.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad46fd49-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/4"><num value="4" class="bold">(4)</num><heading class="bold"> Single parent</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “single parent” means an individual who—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad46fd4a-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/4/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> is unmarried or legally separated from a spouse; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad46fd4b-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/4/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><clause style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad46fd4c-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/4/B/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> has 1 or more minor children for whom the individual has custody or joint custody; or</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad46fd4d-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/4/B/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> is pregnant.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad46fd4e-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s12854/5"><num value="5" class="bold">(5)</num><heading class="bold"> State</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “State” means the States of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, and any other territory or possession of the United States.</p>
