<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id8fa0bcfe-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s13383"><num value="13383">§ 13383.</num><heading> Director of Climate Protection</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Within 6 months after <date date="1992-10-24">October 24, 1992</date>, the Secretary shall establish, within the Department of Energy, a Director of Climate Protection (in this section referred to as the “Director”). The Director shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8fa0bcff-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s13383/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> in the absence of the Secretary, serve as the Secretary’s representative for interagency and multilateral policy discussions of global climate change, including the activities of the Committee on Earth and Environmental Sciences as established by the Global Change Research Act of 1990 (<ref href="/us/pl/101/606">Public Law 101–606</ref>) [<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2921">15 U.S.C. 2921</ref> et seq.] and the Policy Coordinating Committee Working Group on Climate Change;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8fa0bd00-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s13383/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> monitor, in cooperation with other Federal agencies, domestic and international policies for their effects on the generation of greenhouse gases; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8fa0bd01-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s13383/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> have the authority to participate in the planning activities of relevant Department of Energy programs.</content>
