L. 102–486, title XVI, § 1609, Oct. 24, 1992, 106 Stat. 3007.)","seq_in_title":6857,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch134/schVII","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42","level":"title","num":"Title 42—","heading":"THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch134","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 134—","heading":"ENERGY POLICY","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch134/schVII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER VII—","heading":"GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id8fa180ad-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s13388\"><num value=\"13388\">§ 13388.</num><heading> Global Climate Change Response Fund</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id8fa180ae-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s13388/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Establishment of Fund</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, shall establish a Global Climate Change Response Fund to act as a mechanism for United States contributions to assist global efforts in mitigating and adapting to global climate change.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id8fa180af-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s13388/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Restrictions on deposits</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">No deposits shall be made to the Global Climate Change Response Fund until the United States has ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id8fa180b0-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s13388/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Use of Fund</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">Moneys deposited into the Fund shall be used by the President, to the extent authorized and appropriated under <ref href=\"/us/usc/t22/s2222\">section 2222 of title 22</ref>, solely for contributions to a financial mechanism negotiated pursuant to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, including all protocols or agreements related thereto.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id8fa180b1-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s13388/d\"><num value=\"d\" class=\"bold\">(d)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Authorization of appropriations</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">There are authorized to be appropriated for deposit in the Fund to carry out the purposes of this section, $50,000,000 for fiscal year 1994 and such sums as may be necessary for fiscal years 1995 and 1996.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id8fa180b2-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/102/486/tXVI/s1609\">Pub.
