L. 104–142, title II, § 206, May 13, 1996, 110 Stat. 1336.)","seq_in_title":7192,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch137/schIII","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42","level":"title","num":"Title 42—","heading":"THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch137","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 137—","heading":"MANAGEMENT OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES AND BATTERIES CONTAINING MERCURY","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch137/schIII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER III—","heading":"MANAGEMENT OF BATTERIES CONTAINING MERCURY","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"idad6421f2-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s14335\"><num value=\"14335\">§ 14335.</num><heading> Limitations on sale of other mercuric-oxide batteries</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idad6421f3-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s14335/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Prohibition</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">On or after <date date=\"1996-05-13\">May 13, 1996</date>, no person shall sell, offer for sale, or offer for promotional purposes a mercuric-oxide battery for use in the United States unless the battery manufacturer, or the importer of such a battery—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idad6421f4-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s14335/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> identifies a collection site in the United States that has all required Federal, State, and local government approvals, to which persons may send used mercuric-oxide batteries for recycling or proper disposal;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idad6421f5-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s14335/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> informs each of its purchasers of mercuric-oxide batteries of the collection site identified under paragraph (1); and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idad6421f6-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s14335/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> informs each of its purchasers of mercuric-oxide batteries of a telephone number that the purchaser may call to get information about sending mercuric-oxide batteries for recycling or proper disposal.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idad6421f7-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s14335/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Application of section</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">This section does not apply to a sale or offer of a mercuric-oxide button cell battery.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"idad6421f8-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/104/142/tII/s206\">Pub.
