<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">In this subchapter:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad7f247d-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Fuel cell</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “fuel cell” means a device that directly converts the chemical energy of a fuel, which is supplied from an external source, and an oxidant into electricity by electrochemical processes occurring at separate electrodes in the device.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad7f247e-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Heavy-duty vehicle</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “heavy-duty vehicle” means a motor vehicle that—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad7f247f-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> is rated at more than 8,500 pounds gross vehicle weight;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad7f2480-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> has a curb weight of more than 6,000 pounds; or</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad7f2481-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/2/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> has a basic vehicle frontal area in excess of 45 square feet.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad7f2482-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Infrastructure</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “infrastructure” means the equipment, systems, or facilities used to produce, distribute, deliver, or store hydrogen (except for onboard storage).</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad7f2483-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/4"><num value="4" class="bold">(4)</num><heading class="bold"> Light-duty vehicle</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “light-duty vehicle” means a motor vehicle that is rated at 8,500 or less pounds gross vehicle weight.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad7f2484-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/5"><num value="5" class="bold">(5)</num><heading class="bold"> Stationary; portable</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The terms “stationary” and “portable”, when used in reference to a fuel cell, include—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad7f2485-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/5/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> continuous electric power; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad7f2486-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/5/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> backup electric power.</content>
</subparagraph>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idad7f2487-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s16152/6"><num value="6" class="bold">(6)</num><heading class="bold"> Task Force</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “Task Force” means the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Task Force established under <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s16155">section 16155 of this title</ref>.</p>
