L. 109–58, title IX, § 935, Aug. 8, 2005, 119 Stat. 873.)","seq_in_title":7543,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch149/schIX/ptC","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42","level":"title","num":"Title 42—","heading":"THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch149","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 149—","heading":"NATIONAL ENERGY POLICY AND PROGRAMS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch149/schIX","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER IX—","heading":"RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch149/schIX/ptC","level":"part","num":"Part C—","heading":"Renewable Energy","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"idad82a6a8-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s16235\"><num value=\"16235\">§ 16235.</num><heading> Renewable energy in public buildings</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idad82a6a9-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s16235/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Demonstration and technology transfer program</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Secretary shall establish a program for the demonstration of innovative technologies for solar and other renewable energy sources in buildings owned or operated by a State or local government, and for the dissemination of information resulting from such demonstration to interested parties.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idad82a6aa-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s16235/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Limit on Federal funding</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">Notwithstanding <ref href=\"/us/usc/t42/s16352\">section 16352 of this title</ref>, the Secretary shall provide under this section no more than 40 percent of the incremental costs of the solar or other renewable energy source project funded.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idad82a6ab-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s16235/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Requirements</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">As part of the application for awards under this section, the Secretary shall require all applicants—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idad82a6ac-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s16235/c/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> to demonstrate a continuing commitment to the use of solar and other renewable energy sources in buildings they own or operate; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idad82a6ad-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s16235/c/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> to state how they expect any award to further their transition to the significant use of renewable energy.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"idad82a6ae-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/109/58/tIX/s935\">Pub.
