<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id5cf631e3-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d"><num value="1769d">§ 1769d.</num><heading> Childhood hunger research</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf631e4-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Research on causes and consequences of childhood hunger</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf631e5-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><chapeau>The Secretary shall conduct research on—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf631e6-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> the causes of childhood hunger and food insecurity;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf631e7-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> the characteristics of households with childhood hunger and food insecurity; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf631e8-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/1/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> the consequences of childhood hunger and food insecurity.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf631e9-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Authority</heading><chapeau>In carrying out research under paragraph (1), the Secretary may—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf631ea-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> enter into competitively awarded contracts or cooperative agreements; or</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf631eb-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> provide grants to States or public or private agencies or organizations, as determined by the Secretary.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf631ec-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Application</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">To be eligible to enter into a contract or cooperative agreement or receive a grant under this subsection, a State or public or private agency or organization shall submit to the Secretary an application at such time, in such manner, and containing such information as the Secretary shall require.</p>
</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf631ed-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4"><num value="4" class="bold">(4)</num><heading class="bold"> Areas of inquiry</heading><chapeau>The Secretary shall design the research program to advance knowledge and understanding of information on the issues described in paragraph (1), such as—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf631ee-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> economic, health, social, cultural, demographic, and other factors that contribute to childhood hunger or food insecurity;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf631ef-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> the geographic distribution of childhood hunger and food insecurity;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf65900-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><chapeau> the extent to which—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf65901-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/C/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> existing Federal assistance programs, including title 26, reduce childhood hunger and food insecurity; and</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf65902-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/C/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><chapeau> childhood hunger and food insecurity persist due to—</chapeau><subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="id5cf65903-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/C/ii/I"><num value="I">(I)</num><content> gaps in program coverage;</content>
</subclause>
<subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="id5cf65904-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/C/ii/II"><num value="II">(II)</num><content> the inability of potential participants to access programs; or</content>
</subclause>
<subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="id5cf65905-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/C/ii/III"><num value="III">(III)</num><content> the insufficiency of program benefits or services;</content>
</subclause>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf65906-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> the public health and medical costs of childhood hunger and food insecurity;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf65907-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/E"><num value="E">(E)</num><content> an estimate of the degree to which the Census Bureau measure of food insecurity underestimates childhood hunger and food insecurity because the Census Bureau excludes certain households, such as homeless, or other factors;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf65908-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/F"><num value="F">(F)</num><content> the effects of childhood hunger on child development, well-being, and educational attainment; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf65909-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/4/G"><num value="G">(G)</num><content> such other critical outcomes as are determined by the Secretary.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6590a-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/5"><num value="5" class="bold">(5)</num><heading class="bold"> Funding</heading><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6590b-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/5/A"><num value="A" class="bold">(A)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2">On <date date="2012-10-01">October 1, 2012</date>, out of any funds in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the Secretary of the Treasury shall transfer to the Secretary to carry out this subsection $10,000,000, to remain available until expended.</p>

</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6590c-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/a/5/B"><num value="B" class="bold">(B)</num><heading class="bold"> Receipt and acceptance</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2">The Secretary shall be entitled to receive, shall accept, and shall use to carry out this subsection the funds transferred under subparagraph (A), without further appropriation.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6590d-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Demonstration projects to end childhood hunger</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6590e-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Definitions</heading><chapeau>In this subsection:</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6590f-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/1/A"><num value="A" class="bold">(A)</num><heading class="bold"> Child</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2">The term “child” means a person under the age of 18.</p>
</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf65910-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/1/B"><num value="B" class="bold">(B)</num><heading class="bold"> Supplemental nutrition assistance program</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2">The term “supplemental nutrition assistance program” means the supplemental nutrition assistance program established under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<ref href="/us/usc/t7/s2011">7 U.S.C. 2011</ref> et seq.).</p>
</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf65911-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Purpose</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Under such terms and conditions as are established by the Secretary, the Secretary shall carry out demonstration projects that test innovative strategies to end childhood hunger, including alternative models for service delivery and benefit levels that promote the reduction or elimination of childhood hunger and food insecurity.</p>
</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf65912-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Projects</heading><chapeau>Demonstration projects carried out under this subsection may include projects that—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf65913-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/3/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> enhance benefits provided under the supplemental nutrition assistance program for eligible households with children;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf65914-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/3/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> enhance benefits or provide for innovative program delivery models in the school meals, afterschool snack, and child and adult care food programs under this chapter and the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 (<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s1771">42 U.S.C. 1771</ref> et seq.); and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf65915-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/3/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> target Federal, State, or local assistance, including emergency housing or family preservation services, at households with children who are experiencing hunger or food insecurity, to the extent permitted by the legal authority establishing those assistance programs and services.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf65916-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4"><num value="4" class="bold">(4)</num><heading class="bold"> Grants</heading><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf65917-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4/A"><num value="A" class="bold">(A)</num><heading class="bold"> Demonstration projects</heading><clause style="-uslm-lc:I77" class="indent5 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf65918-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4/A/i"><num value="i" class="bold">(i)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3">In carrying out this subsection, the Secretary may enter into competitively awarded contracts or cooperative agreements with, or provide grants to, public or private organizations or agencies (as determined by the Secretary), for use in accordance with demonstration projects that meet the purposes of this subsection.</p>
</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I77" class="indent5 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf65919-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4/A/ii"><num value="ii" class="bold">(ii)</num><heading class="bold"> Requirement</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3">At least 1 demonstration project funded under this subsection shall be carried out on an Indian reservation in a rural area with a service population with a prevalence of diabetes that exceeds 15 percent, as determined by the Director of the Indian Health Service.</p>
</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6591a-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4/B"><num value="B" class="bold">(B)</num><heading class="bold"> Application</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2">To be eligible to receive a contract, cooperative agreement, or grant under this subsection, an organization or agency shall submit to the Secretary an application at such time, in such manner, and containing such information as the Secretary may require.</p>
</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6802b-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4/C"><num value="C" class="bold">(C)</num><heading class="bold"> Selection criteria</heading><chapeau>Demonstration projects shall be selected based on publicly disseminated criteria that may include—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf6802c-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4/C/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> an identification of a low-income target group that reflects individuals experiencing hunger or food insecurity;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf6802d-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4/C/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> a commitment to a demonstration project that allows for a rigorous outcome evaluation as described in paragraph (6);</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf6802e-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4/C/iii"><num value="iii">(iii)</num><content> a focus on innovative strategies to reduce the risk of childhood hunger or provide a significant improvement to the food security status of households with children; and</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf6802f-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/4/C/iv"><num value="iv">(iv)</num><content> such other criteria as are determined by the Secretary.</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf68030-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/5"><num value="5" class="bold">(5)</num><heading class="bold"> Consultation</heading><chapeau>In determining the range of projects and defining selection criteria under this subsection, the Secretary shall consult with—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf68031-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/5/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> the Secretary of Health and Human Services;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf68032-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/5/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> the Secretary of Labor; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id5cf68033-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/5/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf68034-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/6"><num value="6" class="bold">(6)</num><heading class="bold"> Evaluation and reporting</heading><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf68035-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/6/A"><num value="A" class="bold">(A)</num><heading class="bold"> Independent evaluation</heading><chapeau>The Secretary shall provide for an independent evaluation of each demonstration project carried out under this subsection that—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf68036-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/6/A/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> measures the impact of each demonstration project on appropriate participation, food security, nutrition, and associated behavioral outcomes among participating households; and</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf68037-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/6/A/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> uses rigorous experimental designs and methodologies, particularly random assignment or other methods that are capable of producing scientifically valid information regarding which activities are effective in reducing the prevalence or preventing the incidence of food insecurity and hunger in the community, especially among children.</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf68038-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/6/B"><num value="B" class="bold">(B)</num><heading class="bold"> Reporting</heading><chapeau>Not later than <date date="2013-12-31">December 31, 2013</date> and each December 31 thereafter until the date on which the last evaluation under subparagraph (A) is completed, the Secretary shall—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf68039-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/6/B/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><chapeau> submit to the Committee on Agriculture and the Committee on Education and Labor of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate a report that includes a description of—</chapeau><subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="id5cf6803a-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/6/B/i/I"><num value="I">(I)</num><content> the status of each demonstration project; and</content>
</subclause>
<subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="id5cf6803b-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/6/B/i/II"><num value="II">(II)</num><content> the results of any evaluations of the demonstration projects completed during the previous fiscal year; and</content>
</subclause>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id5cf6803c-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/6/B/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> ensure that the evaluation results are shared broadly to inform policy makers, service providers, other partners, and the public in order to promote the wide use of successful strategies.</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6803d-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7"><num value="7" class="bold">(7)</num><heading class="bold"> Funding</heading><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6803e-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/A"><num value="A" class="bold">(A)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2">On <date date="2012-10-01">October 1, 2012</date>, out of any funds in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the Secretary of the Treasury shall transfer to the Secretary to carry out this subsection $40,000,000, to remain available until <date date="2017-09-30">September 30, 2017</date>.</p>

<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf68040-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/C"><num value="C" class="bold">(C)</num><heading class="bold"> Use of funds</heading><clause style="-uslm-lc:I77" class="indent5 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf68041-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/C/i"><num value="i" class="bold">(i)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3">Funds made available under subparagraph (A) may be used to carry out this subsection, including to pay Federal costs associated with developing, soliciting, awarding, monitoring, evaluating, and disseminating the results of each demonstration project under this subsection.</p>

<clause style="-uslm-lc:I77" class="indent5 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf68042-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/C/ii"><num value="ii" class="bold">(ii)</num><heading class="bold"> Indian reservations</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3">Of amounts made available under subparagraph (A), the Secretary shall use a portion of the amounts to carry out research relating to hunger, obesity and type 2 diabetes on Indian reservations, including research to determine the manner in which Federal nutrition programs can help to overcome those problems.</p>

<clause style="-uslm-lc:I77" class="indent5 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf68043-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/C/iii"><num value="iii" class="bold">(iii)</num><heading class="bold"> Report</heading><chapeau>Not later than 1 year after <date date="2010-12-13">December 13, 2010</date>, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Agriculture of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate a report that—</chapeau><subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="id5cf68044-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/C/iii/I"><num value="I">(I)</num><content> describes the manner in which Federal nutrition programs can help to overcome child hunger nutrition problems on Indian reservations; and</content>

<subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="id5cf6a655-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/C/iii/II"><num value="II">(II)</num><content> contains proposed administrative and legislative recommendations to strengthen and streamline all relevant Department of Agriculture nutrition programs to reduce childhood hunger, obesity, and type 2 diabetes on Indian reservations.</content>

<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6a656-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/D"><num value="D" class="bold">(D)</num><heading class="bold"> Limitations</heading><clause style="-uslm-lc:I77" class="indent5 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6a657-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/D/i"><num value="i" class="bold">(i)</num><heading class="bold"> Duration</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3">No project may be funded under this subsection for more than 5 years.</p>

<clause style="-uslm-lc:I77" class="indent5 firstIndent-2" id="id5cf6a658-0b8e-11e8-a109-8c53d72d43d7" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1769d/b/7/D/ii"><num value="ii" class="bold">(ii)</num><heading class="bold"> Project requirements</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3">No project that makes use of, alters, or coordinates with the supplemental nutrition assistance program may be funded under this subsection unless the project is fully consistent with the project requirements described in section 17(b)(1)(B) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<ref href="/us/usc/t7/s2026/b/1/B">7 U.S.C. 2026(b)(1)(B)</ref>).</p>
