<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id8cacf879-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b"><num value="1881b">§ 1881b.</num><heading> Presidential awards for teaching excellence</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8cacf87a-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8cacf87b-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> The President is authorized to make Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching to kindergarten through grade 12 school teachers of mathematics and science who have demonstrated outstanding teaching ability in the field of teaching mathematics or science.</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8cacf87c-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><chapeau> Each year the President is authorized to make no fewer than 108 awards under subparagraph (A). In selecting teachers for an award authorized by this subsection, the President shall select at least two teachers—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8cacf87d-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/1/B/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> from each of the several States;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8cacf87e-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/1/B/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> from the District of Columbia;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8cacf87f-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/1/B/iii"><num value="iii">(iii)</num><content> from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8cacf880-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/1/B/iv"><num value="iv">(iv)</num><content> from among the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and other commonwealths, territories, and possessions of the United States; and</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8cacf881-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/1/B/v"><num value="v">(v)</num><content> from schools established outside the several States and the District of Columbia by any agency of the Federal Government for dependents of the employees of such agency.</content>

</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8cacf882-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> The President shall carry out this subsection, including the establishment of the selection procedures, after consultation with the Director and other appropriate officials of Federal agencies.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8cacf883-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8cacf884-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/3/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> Funds to carry out this subsection for any fiscal year shall be made available from amounts appropriated pursuant to annual authorization of appropriations for the Foundation for Education and Human Resources.</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8cacf885-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s1881b/3/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> Amounts made available pursuant to subparagraph (A) shall be available for making awards under this subsection, for administrative expenses, for necessary travel by teachers selected under this subsection, and for special activities related to carrying out this subsection.</content>
