{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/s2303","title_num":"42","num":"§ 2303.","heading":"Purpose of chapter","status":null,"guid":"id7299605e-4aa7-11eb-94f5-9ff2c44f6f3c","source_credit":"(Aug. 4, 1955, ch. 543, ch. 1, § 13, 69 Stat. 472.)","seq_in_title":3108,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch24/schI","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42","level":"title","num":"Title 42—","heading":"THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch24","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 24—","heading":"DISPOSAL OF ATOMIC ENERGY COMMUNITIES","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch24/schI","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER I—","heading":"GENERAL PROVISIONS","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id42e9f9d0-3271-11e3-ab2f-8f7fedb88afd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s2303\"><num value=\"2303\">§ 2303.</num><heading> Purpose of chapter</heading>\n<chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">It is the purpose of this chapter to effectuate the policies set forth above by providing for—</chapeau><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id42e9f9d1-3271-11e3-ab2f-8f7fedb88afd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s2303/a\"><num value=\"a\">(a)</num><content> the maintenance of conditions which will not impede the recruitment and retention of personnel essential to the atomic energy program;</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id42e9f9d2-3271-11e3-ab2f-8f7fedb88afd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s2303/b\"><num value=\"b\">(b)</num><chapeau> the obligation of the United States to contribute to the support of municipal functions in a manner commensurate with—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id42e9f9d3-3271-11e3-ab2f-8f7fedb88afd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s2303/b/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> the fiscal problems peculiar to the communities by reason of their construction as national defense installations, and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id42e9f9d4-3271-11e3-ab2f-8f7fedb88afd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s2303/b/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> the municipal and other burdens imposed on the governmental or other entities at the communities by the United States in its operations at or near the communities;</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id42e9f9d5-3271-11e3-ab2f-8f7fedb88afd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s2303/c\"><num value=\"c\">(c)</num><content> the opportunity for the residents of the communities to assume the obligations and privileges of local self-government; and</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id42e9f9d6-3271-11e3-ab2f-8f7fedb88afd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s2303/d\"><num value=\"d\">(d)</num><content> the encouragement of the construction of new homes at the communities.</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id42e9f9d7-3271-11e3-ab2f-8f7fedb88afd\">(<ref href=\"/us/act/1955-08-04/ch543\">Aug. 4, 1955, ch. 543</ref>, ch. 1, § 13, <ref href=\"/us/stat/69/472\">69 Stat. 472</ref>.)</sourceCredit>\n</section>","provision":null,"duplicates":[],"release":{"label":"116-252","currency_date":"2020-12-22","congress":116,"law_num":252,"excluded_laws":[],"update_num":null,"seq":222,"is_partial":false,"caveat":null,"titles_affected":["18","20","31","34","40","42"],"ingested_titles":[]},"served_from":{"label":"116-252","currency_date":"2020-12-22","congress":116,"law_num":252,"excluded_laws":[],"update_num":null,"seq":222,"is_partial":false,"caveat":null,"titles_affected":["18","20","31","34","40","42"],"ingested_titles":[]},"content_first_seen":{"label":"113-44","currency_date":"2013-10-10","congress":113,"law_num":44,"excluded_laws":[],"update_num":null,"seq":3,"is_partial":false,"caveat":null,"titles_affected":["02","08","11a","16","21","22","30","38","42","50"],"ingested_titles":[]},"is_exact":true,"note":null}
