<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id18578dcf-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c"><num value="295c">§ 295c.</num><heading> Preventive medicine and public health training grant program</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id18578dd0-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Grants</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Secretary, acting through the Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration and in consultation with the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, shall award grants to, or enter into contracts with, eligible entities to provide training to graduate medical residents in preventive medicine specialties.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id18578dd1-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Eligibility</heading><chapeau>To be eligible for a grant or contract under subsection (a), an entity shall be—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id18578dd2-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> an accredited school of public health or school of medicine or osteopathic medicine;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id18578dd3-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> an accredited public or private nonprofit hospital;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id18578dd4-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> a State, local, or tribal health department; or</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id18578dd5-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> a consortium of 2 or more entities described in paragraphs (1) through (3).</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id18578dd6-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Use of funds</heading><chapeau>Amounts received under a grant or contract under this section shall be used to—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id18578dd7-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/c/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> plan, develop (including the development of curricula), operate, or participate in an accredited residency or internship program in preventive medicine or public health;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id18578dd8-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/c/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> defray the costs of practicum experiences, as required in such a program; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id18578dd9-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/c/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><chapeau> establish, maintain, or improve—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id18578dda-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/c/3/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> academic administrative units (including departments, divisions, or other appropriate units) in preventive medicine and public health; or</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id18578ddb-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/c/3/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> programs that improve clinical teaching in preventive medicine and public health.</content>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id18578ddc-ec39-11e5-ab56-982532b839a4" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s295c/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Report</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Secretary shall submit to the Congress an annual report on the program carried out under this section.</p>
