<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id8d338d84-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s3031"><num value="3031">§ 3031.</num><heading> Purposes</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The purposes of this subchapter are—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8d338d85-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s3031/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> to expand the Nation’s knowledge and understanding of the older population and the aging process;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8d338d86-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s3031/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> to design, test, and promote the use of innovative ideas and best practices in programs and services for older individuals;</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8d338d87-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s3031/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> to help meet the needs for trained personnel in the field of aging; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8d338d88-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s3031/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> to increase awareness of citizens of all ages of the need to assume personal responsibility for their own longevity.</content>
