L. 109–365, title IV, § 403, Oct. 17, 2006, 120 Stat. 2553.)","seq_in_title":3404,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch35/schIV/ptA","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42","level":"title","num":"Title 42—","heading":"THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch35","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 35—","heading":"PROGRAMS FOR OLDER AMERICANS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch35/schIV","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER IV—","heading":"ACTIVITIES FOR HEALTH, INDEPENDENCE, AND LONGEVITY","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/ch35/schIV/ptA","level":"part","num":"Part A—","heading":"Grant Programs","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"idaac2000f-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s3032a\"><num value=\"3032a\">§ 3032a.</num><heading> Career preparation for the field of aging</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idaac20010-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s3032a/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Grants</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Assistant Secretary shall make grants to institutions of higher education, including historically Black colleges or universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, and Hispanic Centers of Excellence in Applied Gerontology, to provide education and training that prepares students for careers in the field of aging.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idaac20011-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s3032a/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Definitions</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">For purposes of subsection (a):</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idaac20012-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s3032a/b/1\"><num value=\"1\" class=\"bold\">(1)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Hispanic Center of Excellence in Applied Gerontology</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">The term “Hispanic Center of Excellence in Applied Gerontology” means an institution of higher education with a program in applied gerontology that—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idaac20013-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s3032a/b/1/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> has a significant number of Hispanic individuals enrolled in the program, including individuals accepted for enrollment in the program;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idaac20014-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s3032a/b/1/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> has been effective in assisting Hispanic students of the program to complete the program and receive the degree involved;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idaac20015-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s3032a/b/1/C\"><num value=\"C\">(C)</num><content> has been effective in recruiting Hispanic individuals to attend the program, including providing scholarships and other financial assistance to such individuals and encouraging Hispanic students of secondary educational institutions to attend the program; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idaac20016-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s3032a/b/1/D\"><num value=\"D\">(D)</num><content> has made significant recruitment efforts to increase the number and placement of Hispanic individuals serving in faculty or administrative positions in the program.</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idaac20017-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t42/s3032a/b/2\"><num value=\"2\" class=\"bold\">(2)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Historically Black college or university</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">The term “historically Black college or university” has the meaning given the term “part B institution” in <ref href=\"/us/usc/t20/s1061/2\">section 1061(2) of title 20</ref>.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"idaac20018-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/89/73/tIV/s412\">Pub.
