<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="idab7c9da3-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s5165a"><num value="5165a">§ 5165a.</num><heading> Minimum standards for public and private structures</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idab7c9da4-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s5165a/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">As a condition of receipt of a disaster loan or grant under this chapter—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idab7c9da5-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s5165a/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the recipient shall carry out any repair or construction to be financed with the loan or grant in accordance with applicable standards of safety, decency, and sanitation and in conformity with applicable codes, specifications, and standards; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idab7c9da6-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s5165a/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the President may require safe land use and construction practices, after adequate consultation with appropriate State and local government officials.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idab7c9da7-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s5165a/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Evidence of compliance</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">A recipient of a disaster loan or grant under this chapter shall provide such evidence of compliance with this section as the President may require by regulation.</p>
