<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">As used in sections 5204 to 5204c of this title—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8dd413a1-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s5204/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the term “insular area” means any of the following: American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, the Marshall Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, and the Virgin Islands;</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8dd413a2-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s5204/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the term “disaster” means a declaration of a major disaster by the President after <date date="1989-09-01">September 1, 1989</date>, pursuant to <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s5170">section 5170 of this title</ref>; and</content>
