<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id8e002c7b-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107"><num value="6107">§ 6107.</num><heading> Definitions</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">For purposes of this chapter—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8e002c7c-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the term “Commission” means the Commission on Civil Rights;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8e002c7d-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the term “Secretary” means the Secretary of Health and Human Services;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8e002c7e-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> the term “Federal department or agency” means any agency as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s551">section 551 of title 5</ref> and includes the United States Postal Service and the Postal Regulatory Commission; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8e002c7f-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><chapeau> the term “program or activity” means all of the operations of—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e002c80-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><clause style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e002c81-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/A/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> a department, agency, special purpose district, or other instrumentality of a State or of a local government; or</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e002c82-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/A/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> the entity of such State or local government that distributes such assistance and each such department or agency (and each other State or local government entity) to which the assistance is extended, in the case of assistance to a State or local government;</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e002c83-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><clause style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e002c84-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/B/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> a college, university, or other postsecondary institution, or a public system of higher education; or</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e002c85-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/B/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> a local educational agency (as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s7801">section 7801 of title 20</ref>), system of vocational education, or other school system;</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e005396-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><clause style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e005397-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/C/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><chapeau> an entire corporation, partnership, or other private organization, or an entire sole proprietorship—</chapeau><subclause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id8e005398-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/C/i/I"><num value="I">(I)</num><content> if assistance is extended to such corporation, partnership, private organization, or sole proprietorship as a whole; or</content>
</subclause>
<subclause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id8e005399-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/C/i/II"><num value="II">(II)</num><content> which is principally engaged in the business of providing education, health care, housing, social services, or parks and recreation; or</content>
</subclause>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e00539a-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/C/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> the entire plant or other comparable, geographically separate facility to which Federal financial assistance is extended, in the case of any other corporation, partnership, private organization, or sole proprietorship; or</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e00539b-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6107/4/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> any other entity which is established by two or more of the entities described in subparagraph (A), (B), or (C);</content>
</subparagraph>

<continuation style="-uslm-lc:I17" class="indent1 firstIndent0">any part of which is extended Federal financial assistance.</continuation>
