<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">As used in this subchapter, the term—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8e3100d8-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6701/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> “Secretary” means the Secretary of Commerce, acting through the Economic Development Administration.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8e3100d9-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6701/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> “State” includes the several States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8e3127ea-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s6701/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> “local government” means any city, county, town, parish, or other political subdivision of a State, and any Indian tribe.</content>
