<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id8e60c343-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7270a"><num value="7270a">§ 7270a.</num><heading> Guards for Strategic Petroleum Reserve facilities</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Under guidelines prescribed by the Secretary and concurred with by the Attorney General, employees of the Department of Energy and employees of contractors and subcontractors (at any tier) of the Department of Energy, while discharging their official duties of protecting the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (established under part B of title I of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act [<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s6231">42 U.S.C. 6231</ref> et seq.]) or its storage or related facilities or of protecting persons upon the Strategic Petroleum Reserve or its storage or related facilities, may—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8e60c344-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7270a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> carry firearms, if designated by the Secretary and qualified for the use of firearms under the guidelines; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8e60c345-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7270a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><chapeau> arrest without warrant any person for an offense against the United States—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e60c346-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7270a/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><chapeau> in the case of a felony, if the employee has reasonable grounds to believe that the person—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id8e60c347-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7270a/2/A/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> has committed or is committing a felony; and</content>

<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id8e60c348-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7270a/2/A/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> is in or is fleeing from the immediate area of the felony; and</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id8e60c349-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7270a/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> in the case of a felony or misdemeanor, if the violation is committed in the presence of the employee.</content>
