<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="idac28bbd2-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7384f"><num value="7384f">§ 7384f.</num><heading> Legislative proposal</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idac28bbd3-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7384f/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Legislative proposal required</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Not later than <date date="2001-03-15">March 15, 2001</date>, the President shall submit to Congress a proposal for legislation to implement the compensation program. The proposal for legislation shall include, at a minimum, the specific recommendations (including draft legislation) of the President for the following:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idac28bbd4-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7384f/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> The types of compensation and benefits, including lost wages, medical benefits, and any lump-sum settlement payments, to be provided under the compensation program.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idac28bbd5-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7384f/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> Any adjustments or modifications necessary to appropriately administer the compensation program under part B.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idac28bbd6-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7384f/a/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> Whether to expand the compensation program to include other illnesses associated with exposure to toxic substances.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idac28bbd7-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7384f/a/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> Whether to expand the class of individuals who are members of the Special Exposure Cohort (as defined in section 7384<i>l</i>(14) of this title).</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idac28bbd8-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7384f/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Assessment of potential covered employees and required amounts</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The President shall include with the proposal for legislation under subsection (a) the following:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idac28bbd9-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7384f/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> An estimate of the number of covered employees that the President determines were exposed in the performance of duty.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idac28e2ea-09a0-11eb-a85b-f5cef3d06f4d" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s7384f/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> An estimate, for each fiscal year of the compensation program, of the amounts to be required for compensation and benefits anticipated to be provided in such fiscal year under the compensation program.</content>
