<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id8ec8d38a-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s8285b"><num value="8285b">§ 8285b.</num><heading> Grants</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8ec8d38b-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s8285b/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><content> The Secretary may make grants to any Governor of a State for the training and certification of individuals to conduct energy audits.</content>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8ec8d38c-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s8285b/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><chapeau> Before making a grant under subsection (a) to a Governor, the Secretary must receive from the Governor an application containing—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8ec8d38d-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s8285b/b/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> any information which the Secretary deems is necessary to carry out this subchapter; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8ec8d38e-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s8285b/b/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> an assurance that the grant will supplement and not supplant other funds available for such training and certification and will be used to increase the total amount of funds available for such training and certification.</content>
</subparagraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8ec8d38f-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s8285b/c"><num value="c">(c)</num><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8ec8d390-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s8285b/c/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> Before making any grant under subsection (a) the Secretary shall establish minimum standards for the training and certification of individuals to conduct energy audits.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id8ec8d391-86fb-11e9-b915-8b3e54686b9f" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s8285b/c/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> The Secretary shall require each Governor receiving any grant under this subchapter to agree to meet the standards established pursuant to paragraph (1) in any training and certification conducted using funds provided under this subchapter.</content>
