</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="idd877cc1b-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/B/vii"><num value="vii">(vii)</num><content> the type of child care in which the child was enrolled (such as family child care, home care, or center-based child care);</content>

<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="idd877cc1c-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/B/viii"><num value="viii">(viii)</num><content> whether the child care provider involved was a relative;</content>

<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="idd877cc1d-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/B/ix"><num value="ix">(ix)</num><content> the cost of child care for such families;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="idd877cc1e-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/B/x"><num value="x">(x)</num><content> the average hours per month of such care; and</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="idd877cc1f-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/B/xi"><num value="xi">(xi)</num><content> whether the children receiving assistance under this subchapter are homeless children;</content>
</clause>

<continuation style="-uslm-lc:I32" class="indent2 firstIndent0">during the period for which such information is required to be submitted.</continuation>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc20-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/C"><num value="C" class="bold">(C)</num><heading class="bold"> Submission to Secretary</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2">A State described in subparagraph (A) shall, on a quarterly basis, submit the information required to be collected under subparagraph (B) to the Secretary.</p>
</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc21-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/D"><num value="D" class="bold">(D)</num><heading class="bold"> Use of samples</heading><clause style="-uslm-lc:I77" class="indent5 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc22-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/D/i"><num value="i" class="bold">(i)</num><heading class="bold"> Authority</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3">A State may comply with the requirement to collect the information described in subparagraph (B) through the use of disaggregated case record information on a sample of families selected through the use of scientifically acceptable sampling methods approved by the Secretary.</p>
</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I77" class="indent5 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc23-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/D/ii"><num value="ii" class="bold">(ii)</num><heading class="bold"> Sampling and other methods</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3">The Secretary shall provide the States with such case sampling plans and data collection procedures as the Secretary deems necessary to produce statistically valid samples of the information described in subparagraph (B). The Secretary may develop and implement procedures for verifying the quality of data submitted by the States.</p>
</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I18" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc24-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/1/E"><num value="E" class="bold">(E)</num><heading class="bold"> Prohibition</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2">Reports submitted to the Secretary under subparagraph (C) shall not contain personally identifiable information.</p>
</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc25-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Annual reports</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Not later than 1 year after <date date="2014-11-19">November 19, 2014</date>, and annually thereafter,,<ref class="footnoteRef" idref="fn003834">2</ref><note type="footnote" id="fn003834"><num>2</num> So in original.</note> a State described in paragraph (1)(A) shall prepare and submit to the Secretary a report that includes aggregate data concerning—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd877cc26-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> the number of child care providers that received funding under this subchapter as separately identified based on the types of providers listed in <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s9858n/6">section 9858n(6) of this title</ref>;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd877cc27-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> the monthly cost of child care services, and the portion of such cost that is paid for with assistance provided under this subchapter, listed by the type of child care services provided;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd877cc28-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/2/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> the number of payments made by the State through vouchers, contracts, cash, and disregards under public benefit programs, listed by the type of child care services provided;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd877cc29-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/2/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> the manner in which consumer education information was provided to parents and the number of parents to whom such information was provided; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd877cc2a-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/2/E"><num value="E">(E)</num><content> the total number (without duplication) of children and families served under this subchapter; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd877cc2b-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/a/2/F"><num value="F">(F)</num><content> the number of child fatalities occurring among children while in the care and facility of child care providers receiving assistance under this subchapter, listed by type of child care provider and indicating whether the providers (excluding child care providers described in <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s9858n/6/B">section 9858n(6)(B) of this title</ref>) are licensed or license-exempt.<ref class="footnoteRef" idref="fn003835">3</ref><note type="footnote" id="fn003835"><num>3</num> So in original. </subparagraph>

<continuation style="-uslm-lc:I17" class="indent1 firstIndent0">during the period for which such report is required to be submitted.</continuation>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc2c-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Audits</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc2d-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/b/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Requirement</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">A State shall, after the close of each program period covered by an application approved under <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s9858c/d">section 9858c(d) of this title</ref> audit its expenditures during such program period from amounts received under this subchapter.</p>

</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc2e-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/b/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Independent auditor</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Audits under this subsection shall be conducted by an entity that is independent of the State that receives assistance under this subchapter and be in accordance with generally accepted auditing principles.</p>

</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc2f-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/b/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Submission</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Not later than 30 days after the completion of an audit under this subsection, the State shall submit a copy of the audit to the legislature of the State and to the Secretary.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idd877cc30-406b-11eb-bd25-fd7436c081d8" identifier="/us/usc/t42/s9858i/b/4"><num value="4" class="bold">(4)</num><heading class="bold"> Repayment of amounts</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Each State shall repay to the United States any amounts determined through an audit under this subsection not to have been expended in accordance with this subchapter, or the Secretary may offset such amounts against any other amount to which the State is or may be entitled under this subchapter.</p>
