<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id35220171-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504"><num value="30504">§ 30504.</num><heading> Reporting requirements</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id35220172-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Junk Yard and Salvage Yard Operators</inline>.—</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id35220173-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><chapeau> Beginning at a time established by the Attorney General that is not sooner than the 3d month before the establishment or designation of the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System under <ref href="/us/usc/t49/s30502">section 30502 of this title</ref>, an individual or entity engaged in the business of operating a junk yard or salvage yard shall file a monthly report with the operator of the System. The report shall contain an inventory of all junk automobiles or salvage automobiles obtained by the junk yard or salvage yard during the prior month. The inventory shall contain—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id35220174-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/a/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> the vehicle identification number of each automobile obtained;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id35220175-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/a/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> the date on which the automobile was obtained;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id35220176-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/a/1/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> the name of the individual or entity from whom the automobile was obtained; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id35220177-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/a/1/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> a statement of whether the automobile was crushed or disposed of for sale or other purposes.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id35220178-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><chapeau> Paragraph (1) of this subsection does not apply to an individual or entity—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id35220179-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/a/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> required by State law to report the acquisition of junk automobiles or salvage automobiles to State or local authorities if those authorities make that information available to the operator; or</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3522017a-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/a/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> issued a verification under <ref href="/us/usc/t49/s33110">section 33110 of this title</ref> stating that the automobile or parts from the automobile are not reported as stolen.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id3522017b-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Insurance Carriers</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Beginning at a time established by the Attorney General that is not sooner than the 3d month before the establishment or designation of the System, an individual or entity engaged in business as an insurance carrier shall file a monthly report with the operator. The report may be filed directly or through a designated agent. The report shall contain an inventory of all automobiles of the current model year or any of the 4 prior model years that the carrier, during the prior month, has obtained possession of and has decided are junk automobiles or salvage automobiles. The inventory shall contain—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3522017c-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the vehicle identification number of each automobile obtained;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3522017d-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the date on which the automobile was obtained;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3522017e-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> the name of the individual or entity from whom the automobile was obtained; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3522017f-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> the name of the owner of the automobile at the time of the filing of the report.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id35220180-ec39-11e5-b01e-e2270cb35279" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s30504/c"><num value="c">(c)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Procedures and Practices</inline>.—</heading><content>The Attorney General shall establish by regulation procedures and practices to facilitate reporting in the least burdensome and costly fashion.</content>
