<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id3c89b213-3bf5-11e3-a342-84d17a7c85b8" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s44934"><num value="44934">§ 44934.</num><heading> Foreign Security Liaison Officers</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id3c89b214-3bf5-11e3-a342-84d17a7c85b8" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s44934/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Establishment, Designation, and Stationing</inline>.—</heading><content>The Under Secretary of Transportation for Security shall establish the position of Foreign Security Liaison Officer for each airport outside the United States at which the Under Secretary decides an Officer is necessary for air transportation security. In coordination with the Secretary of State, the Under Secretary shall designate an Officer for each of those airports. In coordination with the Secretary, the Under Secretary shall designate an Officer for each of those airports where extraordinary security measures are in place. The Secretary shall give high priority to stationing those Officers.</content>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id3c89b215-3bf5-11e3-a342-84d17a7c85b8" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s44934/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Duties and Powers</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>An Officer reports directly to the Under Secretary. The Officer at each airport shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3c89b216-3bf5-11e3-a342-84d17a7c85b8" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s44934/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> serve as the liaison of the Under Secretary to foreign security authorities (including governments of foreign countries and foreign airport authorities) in carrying out United States Government security requirements at that airport; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id3c89b217-3bf5-11e3-a342-84d17a7c85b8" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s44934/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> to the extent practicable, carry out duties and powers referred to in <ref href="/us/usc/t49/s44933/b">section 44933(b) of this title</ref>.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id3c89b218-3bf5-11e3-a342-84d17a7c85b8" identifier="/us/usc/t49/s44934/c"><num value="c">(c)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Coordination of Activities</inline>.—</heading><content>The activities of each Officer shall be coordinated with the chief of the diplomatic mission of the United States to which the Officer is assigned. Activities of an Officer under this section shall be consistent with the duties and powers of the Secretary and the chief of mission to a foreign country under section 103 of the Omnibus Diplomatic Security and Antiterrorism Act of 1986 (<ref href="/us/usc/t22/s4802">22 U.S.C. 4802</ref>) and section 207 of the Foreign Service Act of 1980 (<ref href="/us/usc/t22/s3927">22 U.S.C. 3927</ref>).</content>
