<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id9ef2ae92-3a06-11e9-9d6c-e37b78ac5a10" identifier="/us/usc/t5/s8951"><num value="8951">§ 8951.</num><heading> Definitions</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">In this chapter:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id9ef2ae93-3a06-11e9-9d6c-e37b78ac5a10" identifier="/us/usc/t5/s8951/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> The term “employee” means an employee defined under section 8901(1) and an employee of the District of Columbia courts.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id9ef2ae94-3a06-11e9-9d6c-e37b78ac5a10" identifier="/us/usc/t5/s8951/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> The terms “annuitant”, “member of family”, and “dependent” have the meanings as such terms are defined under paragraphs (3), (5), and (9), respectively, of section 8901.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id9ef2ae95-3a06-11e9-9d6c-e37b78ac5a10" identifier="/us/usc/t5/s8951/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> The term “eligible individual” refers to an individual described in paragraph (1), (2), or (8), without regard to whether the individual is enrolled in a health benefits plan under chapter 89.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id9ef2ae96-3a06-11e9-9d6c-e37b78ac5a10" identifier="/us/usc/t5/s8951/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> The term “Office” means the Office of Personnel Management.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id9ef2ae97-3a06-11e9-9d6c-e37b78ac5a10" identifier="/us/usc/t5/s8951/5"><num value="5">(5)</num><content> The term “qualified company” means a company (or consortium of companies or an employee organization defined under section 8901(8)) that offers indemnity, preferred provider organization, health maintenance organization, or discount dental programs and if required is licensed to issue applicable coverage in any number of States, taking any subsidiaries of such a company into account (and, in the case of a consortium, considering the member companies and any subsidiaries thereof, collectively).</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id9ef2d5a8-3a06-11e9-9d6c-e37b78ac5a10" identifier="/us/usc/t5/s8951/6"><num value="6">(6)</num><content> The term “employee organization” means an association or other organization of employees which is national in scope, or in which membership is open to all employees of a Government agency who are eligible to enroll in a health benefits plan under chapter 89.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id9ef2d5a9-3a06-11e9-9d6c-e37b78ac5a10" identifier="/us/usc/t5/s8951/7"><num value="7">(7)</num><content> The term “State” includes the District of Columbia.</content>
