<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id59add468-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a"><num value="124a">§ 124a.</num><heading> Homeland security information sharing</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id59add469-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Information sharing</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Consistent with <ref href="/us/usc/t6/s485">section 485 of this title</ref>, the Secretary, acting through the Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis, shall integrate the information and standardize the format of the products of the intelligence components of the Department containing homeland security information, terrorism information, weapons of mass destruction information, or national intelligence (as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t50/s3003/5">section 3003(5) of title 50</ref>) except for any internal security protocols or personnel information of such intelligence components, or other administrative processes that are administered by any chief security officer of the Department.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id59add46a-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Information sharing and knowledge management officers</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">For each intelligence component of the Department, the Secretary shall designate an information sharing and knowledge management officer who shall report to the Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis regarding coordinating the different systems used in the Department to gather and disseminate homeland security information or national intelligence (as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t50/s3003/5">section 3003(5) of title 50</ref>).</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id59add46b-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> State, local, and private-sector sources of information</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id59add46c-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/c/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Establishment of business processes</heading><chapeau>The Secretary, acting through the Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis or the Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection, as appropriate, shall—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id59add46d-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/c/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> establish Department-wide procedures for the review and analysis of information provided by State, local, and tribal governments and the private sector;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id59add46e-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/c/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> as appropriate, integrate such information into the information gathered by the Department and other departments and agencies of the Federal Government; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id59add46f-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/c/1/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> make available such information, as appropriate, within the Department and to other departments and agencies of the Federal Government.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id59add470-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/c/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Feedback</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The Secretary shall develop mechanisms to provide feedback regarding the analysis and utility of information provided by any entity of State, local, or tribal government or the private sector that provides such information to the Department.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id59add471-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Training and evaluation of employees</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id59add472-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/d/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Training</heading><chapeau>The Secretary, acting through the Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis or the Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection, as appropriate, shall provide to employees of the Department opportunities for training and education to develop an understanding of—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id59add473-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/d/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> the definitions of homeland security information and national intelligence (as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t50/s3003/5">section 3003(5) of title 50</ref>); and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id59add474-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/d/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><chapeau> how information available to such employees as part of their duties—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id59add475-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/d/1/B/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> might qualify as homeland security information or national intelligence; and</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id59add476-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/d/1/B/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> might be relevant to the Office of Intelligence and Analysis and the intelligence components of the Department.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id59add477-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/d/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Evaluations</heading><chapeau>The Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis shall—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id59add478-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/d/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> on an ongoing basis, evaluate how employees of the Office of Intelligence and Analysis and the intelligence components of the Department are utilizing homeland security information or national intelligence, sharing information within the Department, as described in this subchapter, and participating in the information sharing environment established under <ref href="/us/usc/t6/s485">section 485 of this title</ref>; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id59add479-f67c-11e5-b96b-f3e1d2b9a904" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s124a/d/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> provide to the appropriate component heads regular reports regarding the evaluations under subparagraph (A).</content>
