<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="idd9b045e9-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239"><num value="239">§ 239.</num><heading> Office of Cargo Security Policy</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idd9b045ea-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Establishment</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">There is established within the Department an Office of Cargo Security Policy (referred to in this section as the “Office”).</p>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idd9b045eb-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Purpose</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Office shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idd9b045ec-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> coordinate all Department policies relating to cargo security; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idd9b045ed-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> consult with stakeholders and coordinate with other Federal agencies in the establishment of standards and regulations and to promote best practices.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idd9b045ee-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Director</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idd9b045ef-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/c/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Appointment</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The Office shall be headed by a Director, who shall—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd9b045f0-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/c/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> be appointed by the Secretary; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd9b06c01-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/c/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> report to the Assistant Secretary for Policy.</content>
</subparagraph>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="idd9b06c02-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/c/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Responsibilities</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The Director shall—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd9b06c03-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/c/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> advise the Assistant Secretary for Policy in the development of Department-wide policies regarding cargo security;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd9b06c04-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/c/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> coordinate all policies relating to cargo security among the agencies and offices within the Department relating to cargo security; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idd9b06c05-099f-11eb-8f89-efd6e4a0cb8a" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s239/c/2/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> coordinate the cargo security policies of the Department with the policies of other executive agencies.</content>
