L. 109–295, title VI, § 671(b), Oct. 4, 2006, 120 Stat. 1441.)","seq_in_title":277,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t6/ch1/schXIII","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t6","level":"title","num":"Title 6—","heading":"DOMESTIC SECURITY","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t6/ch1","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 1—","heading":"HOMELAND SECURITY ORGANIZATION","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t6/ch1/schXIII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER XIII—","heading":"EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id1adabb30-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t6/s577\"><num value=\"577\">§ 577.</num><heading> Urban and other high risk area communications capabilities</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id1adabb31-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t6/s577/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Secretary, in consultation with the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission and the Secretary of Defense, and with appropriate State, local, and tribal government officials, shall provide technical guidance, training, and other assistance, as appropriate, to support the rapid establishment of consistent, secure, and effective interoperable emergency communications capabilities in the event of an emergency in urban and other areas determined by the Secretary to be at consistently high levels of risk from natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id1adabb32-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t6/s577/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Minimum capabilities</heading><chapeau>The interoperable emergency communications capabilities established under subsection (a) shall ensure the ability of all levels of government, emergency response providers, the private sector, and other organizations with emergency response capabilities—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1adabb33-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t6/s577/b/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> to communicate with each other in the event of an emergency;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1adabb34-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t6/s577/b/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> to have appropriate and timely access to the Information Sharing Environment described in <ref href=\"/us/usc/t6/s485\">section 485 of this title</ref>; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1adabb35-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t6/s577/b/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> to be consistent with any applicable State or Urban Area homeland strategy or plan.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id1adabb36-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/107/296/tXVIII/s1807\">Pub.
