<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id1ae913ec-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654"><num value="654">§ 654.</num><heading> Infrastructure Security Division</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id1ae913ed-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Establishment</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id1ae913ee-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/a/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">There is established in the Agency an Infrastructure Security Division.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id1ae913ef-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/a/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Assistant Director</heading><chapeau>The Infrastructure Security Division shall be headed by an Assistant Director for Infrastructure Security (in this section referred to as the “Assistant Director”), who shall—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id1ae913f0-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/a/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> be at the level of Assistant Secretary within the Department;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id1ae913f1-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/a/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> be appointed by the President without the advice and consent of the Senate; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id1ae913f2-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/a/2/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> report to the Director.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id1ae913f3-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/a/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Reference</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Any reference to the Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection in any law, regulation, map, document, record, or other paper of the United States shall be deemed to be a reference to the Assistant Director for Infrastructure Security.</p>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id1ae913f4-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Functions</heading><chapeau>The Assistant Director shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id1ae913f5-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> direct the critical infrastructure security efforts of the Agency;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id1ae913f6-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> carry out, at the direction of the Director, the Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Standards Program established under subchapter XVI and the secure handling of ammonium nitrate program established under part J of subchapter VIII, or any successor programs;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id1ae913f7-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> fully participate in the mechanisms required under <ref href="/us/usc/t6/s652/c/7">section 652(c)(7) of this title</ref>; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id1ae913f8-a3d3-11e9-be6e-e752deae1f00" identifier="/us/usc/t6/s654/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> carry out such other duties and powers as prescribed by the Director.</content>
